using Photoshop or ProCreate (iPad), quickly lay out the figures and composition (including value helps!)print the sketch at final size and practice each of the element details (use tracing paper over the sketch)

scan practice sketches and import into Photoshop and build the final composition digitally (as layers). PS is also great for planning color!print the previous step (linework only) and transfer to watercolor paper using a light board
